I’m definitely the reclusive type. I need the quiet to go into my own head and spend time with my thoughts. External stimuli disturb my thought processes and render me unproductive.
Having said that, I don’t think negatively of social writers. If anything, I admire their ability to write in such environments as I know I can’t (I’ve tried!). And I don’t complain about Macs because I have them too, except that I like my first draft to be in long hand… yes, because the internet is too distracting

I admire the ability to create alone in your head, without the background noise.
I even need the distractions of the internet. The quick check of my email, the occasional tweet. Longhand has never been my strong suit (though I do sometimes practice it, if the sun’s too strong for my screen).
